Sands is the leading stillbirth and neonatal death charity in the UK. Sands exists to reduce the number of babies dying and to ensure that anyone affected by the death of a baby receives the best possible care and support for as long as they need it.

Sands United FC is a unique way for Dads and other bereaved family members to come together through a shared love of sport and find a support network where they can feel at ease talking about their grief when they’re ready.

The teams also commemorate their babies’ all too brief lives by proudly displaying their names on the kit worn for every match.

First Team Kitman Mike Long said: “It is important that as a club we are helping local charity initiatives where possible. After seeing Sands United FC Farnborough reach out on social media needing balls, it felt like a no brainer that we supported.

“After talking to a couple of the members it was clear how important this team is, and as a club we have been happy to help. We are working with them to find out other ways we could potentially help and with Duncan [Saunders] becoming our new Managing Director for the Community Trust, hopefully it will allow us to build a good relationship with them.”
