Despite ground sheets being laid, gas heaters brought in and all the hard work of the Ground Staff, the pitch is frozen solid and subsequently failed a 9am inspection.

We have monitored the pitch on both Thursday and Friday – both sunny days with temperatures similar to Saturday’s forecast – but the pitch has remained frozen, a product of going from a waterlogged situation, to one with sub-zero temperatures.

We appreciate the inspection was early, but we can confidently say that the pitch will not thaw at all today with only a few hours of positive temperatures forecast. Additionally, the outcome of the morning inspection helps supporters avoid any unnecessary journeys.
