Portsmouth born Gifford played for his home town team at Youth level, becoming a regular in Pompey’s Under 18’s side, as well as team-mates with midfielder Adam Payce.
Boro’s new striker enjoyed a successful loan spell with Bognor Regis Town in the 2021/22 season, finding the net on 10 occasions and coming away with The Rocks’ ‘Most Improved’ accolade.
Dan also has experience in The Vanarama National League South from a loan spell with Weymouth during the first half of last season.
The 19-year-old striker has been with us for the final weeks of Pre-Season and is a welcome addition to the squad ahead of Saturday’s season opener at Chelmsford City.
Boro boss Spencer Day commented:
“Dan comes in after leaving Portsmouth. He’s scored a lot of goals whilst on loan at Step Three and gives me four high-quality strikers as we move into the season.”
“Another young player with a big future.”
