Farnborough are back at the Saunders Transport Community Stadium this weekend as they welcome Bobby Wilkinson’s Weymouth.
It was another disappointing away performance last time out for Boro, as they lost 2-1 at Chippenham Town. Dan Ellison opened the scoring with a 12th minute header. Caine Bradbury doubled The Bluebirds lead three minutes into the second half.
Striker Michael Folivi gave Farnborough a lifeline just before the hour mark. However, the task was made more difficult when Edon Pruti was shown a red card, reducing The Yellows to 10 men. The defeat left Boro 10th in the standings.
Saturday’s visitors Weymouth also had a difficult time in midweek, as they lost 1-5 at home to Bath City. Their opponents took the lead in the 16th minute thanks to Elliot Frear and then Scott Wilson doubled the visitors lead, before Ben Thomson got Weymouth back into the game two minutes later. Jordan Thomas restored The Roman’s two goal lead three minutes later. Frear got his second and his sides fourth in the 60th minute. Calvin Brooks was then sent off for the hosts 12 minutes before the end. Cody Cooke scored Bath City’s fifth goal in the 90th minute. The defeat for The Terras leaves them 17th in The Vanarama National League South.
The visit of Weymouth sees the return of defender Leo Hamblin, who spent one month on loan with The Yellows between August and September 2021.
Spencer Day’s side will be glad to be back on home soil this weekend, where they remain undefeated this season. The Terras have struggled on the road with two wins, two draws, and four losses. Their most recent victory on the road was a 3-1 win over Dover Athletic.
Boro did the double over Weymouth last season, winning 1-0 on the road in October 2022 thanks to a Jack Ball goal. The reverse fixture was a much more comfortable 3-1 win for The Yellows, with Ollie Robinson, Freddie Grant and Jonathon Page all picking up goals on that occasion.
Back on home turf this weekend. Let’s get back to winning ways and keep this unbeaten home run going. Come on Farnborough!
