At the family’s request, this announcement has been delayed, partly as a mark of respect towards fellow supporter, John Cracknell, whose Funeral was this Thursday (21 December).
Dave spent many hours organising the away supporters coaches and was the Chairman of the Supporters Trust, overseeing many fund raising initiatives. Indeed, one fundraiser he took part in, as a keen cyclist, was a sponsored ride to Basingstoke’s Ground on a match day, no mean feat on its own.
After moving to Oxfordshire to be close to family, Dave continued to attend regularly, a journey that involved two trains and lifts to and from the station from his long-time friend Bob Perry. The pair worked tirelessly on match days on the 50/50 ticket stall, raising funds for FaST which has been invested in improving Ground facilities, a legacy worthy of such a dedicated, kind hearted, level headed friend of the Club.
Dave was laid to rest at a quiet family Funeral on Wednesday (20 December), but he will live long in the memory of many Farnborough fans.
A minute’s silence will be held to honour Dave at a match in January (date to be confirmed).
