Farnborough are back on the road this weekend as they travel to Twerton Park to take on Bath City.
The Yellows ended their three game home run with a close 1-0 win over Welling United. Aaron Kuhl’s 40th minute goal was enough for Boro to claim all three points and jump up to 12th in the table.
Bath City were involved in a 2-2 midweek draw away at Maidstone United in a game that could have big implications in the Play-Offs chase. The Romans took the lead through Cody Cooke in the 37th minute, but the lead did not last long as Maidstone United equalised just 8 minutes later with Muhammadu Faal picking up his fifth goal of the season. Elliott Frear put Bath City back ahead, but this time their lead only lasted 5 minutes as Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong got the hosts back level. Jerry Gill’s men currently sit 6th in the table.
Ahead of the trip to Somerset, Spencer Day had nothing but positive things to say about this weekend’s opposition: “It’s always a nice place to go, big stadium, big fans, and they’re a lovely club. They’ve got a great squad and really good players.”
“At the moment, we can’t train, we don’t have the bodies, so it’s a physio recovery session. We look forward to two very difficult, but very exciting, challenging away games.”
The last time these sides met was back in November; a very entertaining 2-2 draw at the Saunders Transport Community Stadium. Connor Cullen gave Boro the lead, but it took just four minutes for The Romans to find a response through Elliott Frear. Aaron Kuhl restored Farnborough’s lead from the penalty spot five minutes after half-time, but Jack Batten’s 70th minute goal made sure that the points were shared.
Bath City have been very strong at Twerton Park this season, picking up 10 wins, two draws and six defeats on their own patch.
It’s the first of two difficult away games. Let’s start off with a strong performance and some points on the road. Come on Farnborough!
