Unlike recent weeks, it was a very cagey start to the game, with little chances for both teams arising.

It took until the 20th minute, and the first goal, for a good chance to be created from either side. A ball floated in found Angelo Balanta whose snapshot towards goal was parried into the air by Jack Turner, only for an acrobatic effort from Darren McQueen to give the visitors the lead.

Going into the game five unbeaten, expectations and confidence were high looking to start a late Play-Off push with an outside chance presented due to recent form.

As ever, Jonny Stuttle was the danger man for the Yellows, having a chance well saved by Mason Terry between the Hornchurch goal.

It was so close yet so far again for Farnborough, as midfield maestro Aaron Kuhl had his effort deflected off the line by the Hornchurch defenders, leading to a scramble which was eventually cleared.

HALF-TIME: Farnborough 0 Hornchurch 1

It was a bright start from Farnborough, who were on a mission for an equaliser, to keep their impressive home form alive.

Just before the hour mark, Jonny Stuttle robbed Harry Gibbs of possession and layed the ball across goal for Alfie Pavey but he couldn’t sort his feet out and Charlee Adams was able to clear the danger.

Farnborough had more opportunities within the first five minutes of the second half, with a flurry of corners, all defensively cleared well by Hornchurch.

Farnborough fans in attendance thought they found an equaliser, as Richard Chin let a strong effort fly which found the outside netting.

It was a debut for Farnborough’s new man in midfield with Harun Hamid entering the fray, along with winger Matty Macarthur and defender Jack Bateson.
