At the age of 16, Greenwood was snapped up by Premier League AFC Bournemouth while playing locally for Fleet Spurs.

Before, he was turning out for the likes of Tooting Bec, Eversley & California and Chessington & Hook United in Division One of the Combined Counties League.

The young full-back won the Hampshire Senior Cup and Central League Cup during his five years with The Cherries’ Development Squad – where he was also captain of the team.

Ben earned his first professional deal in July 2021 and went on to train with the First Team, even making a substitute appearance against Chelsea in a Club Friendly the same year.

He also made the bench for AFC Bournemouth’s Premier League clashes with Nottingham Forest, Fulham and Liverpool in 2023/24.

The Republic of Ireland youth international has previously had loan spells with Wimborne Town, Poole Town, Weymouth and Eastleigh.

He spent last season with Weymouth, where he faced Farnborough twice in The National League South.

Upon signing his new left-back, Manager Spencer Day said: “Ben should really become popular quickly as a local lad that was so highly sought of at Bournemouth.

“One of the standouts at Weymouth last year as a dedicated left-back and we are looking forward to seeing him in a Boro shirt!”

Ben has been allocated shirt number 3.
