Farnborough will look to finish the season strongly as they take on St Albans City in the final game of what has been a promising season.
Boro’s slim Play-Off hopes were dashed in midweek, as a 1-2 home defeat against Tonbridge Angels meant they slipped down to 11th in the table and without any possibility of reaching the Play-Offs.
St Albans CIty sit in 7th place and have all but confirmed their place in the Play-Offs, needing just one point from this weekends game after Havant & Waterlooville’s late winner at Concord Rangers.
The Saints have had a strong end to the season in their push for the Play-Offs, picking up 17 points in the previous 10 games to pretty much seal their place in the top seven.
Boro boss Spencer Day had this to say ahead of his side’s trip to St Albans City: “It’s a very, very tough game. Quite frankly, at the moment, it’s about getting 11 players out.”
“We are in bits, you can see the lads hobbling off, they are absolutely exhausted. One more to go, it’s an exciting game, which is good.”
The previous fixture between the two sides was all the way back in September, with St Albans City picking up all three points on their trip to the Easy As HGV Stadium in a 2-1 win.
In the history of the fixture, The Yellows have got the better of The Saints. With Farnborough winning three of the five previous fixtures between the two sides. The last time Boro won at St Albans, was a 3-2 win back in 2014.
It’s been a promising season with lots of highs, and has unfortunately fizzled out towards the end, but let’s hope for a final win to cap off what has been a very impressive season back in The Vanarama National League South.
Come on Farnborough!
