The latest addition to Spencer Day’s squad is an Somalia international who has been starting in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers for his country this year.

Ali started his youth career at Stevenage Under 18s, before signing for QPR in August 2018 following a successful trial.

He dipped into non-league to captain Essex Senior League side Tower Hamlets in 2019/20.

Omar was then snapped up by Barnsley, where he went on to captain their Under 23 side in the Professional Development League North.

In July 2021, he signed for Torquay United in The National League, where he went on to make 51 appearances over two seasons.

Ali’s next destination was NIFL Premiership side Larne in June 2023 and he has since spent time on loan at Bangor.

The predominantly left-sided centre-back has been at the heart of the defence for Yusuf Ali Nur’s Ocean Stars in the recent 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Omar has been with Farnborough since the start of Pre-Season, featuring in all five Friendlies to date.

Manager Spencer Day said: “Already great experience at Torquay and as a left footer he gives us balance.

“A real talent yet still only young.”

“He’s had a tough year so we will need to manage him, but his attitude again is first class and he will be a fantastic addition.”

Omar has been allocated shirt number 15.
