Boro’s new frontman has swapped Essex for Hampshire this Summer, penning a deal at the Easy As HGV Stadium for the 2023/24 season.
Prolific Pavey signs after a successful season in The Vanarama National League South with Braintree Town and Dover Athletic – where he scored a penalty against Boro!
Born in Southwark, Alfie started his career with Maidstone United back in 2012, catching the eye of Millwall where he signed on a two-year Academy Scholarship a year later. Loan moves to Barnet, Aldershot Town, Bromley, Hampton & Richmond Borough and Dartford ensued, before eventually departing for Welling United in June 2017.
A short stint with The Wings saw a switch back to Dartford, where he scored 22 goals in 38 games and took The National League South Player of the Season award.
Pavey then played for Havant & Waterlooville, Dover Athletic, Barnet, Dartford (again, on loan!), before sealing a move to Maidstone United for the 2021/22 season.
The one-time England C International, signed permanently for Dover Athletic at the start of last season, but moved to Essex to help Braintree Town’s Play-Off charge in January 2023.
Manager Spencer Day added: “A pedigree striker with experience at this level and above. Alfie is one of the very best hold up strikers around and as we found out, can dispatch a penalty with aplomb……!!!
“Alfie helped push Braintree into the Play-Offs and will not give centre halves a minutes rest. His desire to come meant this was a really easy deal to do.”
Pavey explained why he wanted to move to Farnborough: “I believe it’s a football club that’s going in the right direction. I’ve been speaking to Spencer since January.
“I just love the way the club is moving. There’s a lot of progression on and off the pitch.
“I think everyone’s ambition is to get promoted. I can’t wait to get started!”
