Prolific Pavey made the switch to Boro in May 2023, signing from League rivals Braintree Town.

Formerly an England C International, Alfie makes a return to Non-League’s top flight after an impressive start to the 2023/24 season in Farnborough colours.

The 27-year-old found the net eight times in ten League games throughout August and September, departing as The Vanarama National League South’s top goalscorer.

Manager Spencer Day commented:

“As I’ve alluded to in Interviews, the Club has received a number of bids for Alfie.

”In most circumstances, we would have rejected them as undoubtedly it’s makes our position worse. The player has been offered a fantastic full-time long term contract at a higher level and it’s not right to stand in his way for the security this brings his young family.

”The timing of course is horrible, but to delay further would lose him the opportunity. We wish Alfie every success at Woking and thank him for his brief time here.

“He will be a massive miss, but we must concentrate on our big FA Cup tie at home this Saturday and I’m sure everyone will get behind the team.”

Penning a farewell message this week, Alfie said:

I think it’s fair to say that this wasn’t expected so early in the season or at all from my side, but this is an opportunity for me which I can not turn down and gives me the platform to hopefully kick on once again at the age of 27.

Our time together was short, but what a football club, which is run by amazing people behind the scenes that has a great family feel around it.

I want to just say a massive thank you to the Manager and his staff, they have been incredible from the start and professional throughout.

Also, a thank you to my team mates who have week in week out provided for me to achieve what I have achieved in the first 10 games of the season.

And finally, you fans for taking me in and supporting from the get go. I’m sure one day our paths will cross again.

Stick with the boys as there is a really good group in there which is going places and going to take the football club to the next level at some point.

So on that note, thank you.
