Former AFC Wimbledon Academy Captain Mason signed his first professional deal with the Club in June 2022 and has since been a part of the League Two outfit’s First Team squad.
The promising full-back started his career in AFC Wimbledon’s Youth system and went on to become Academy Captain, leading his Under 18 side to the EFL Youth Alliance South East League title, alongside an impressive run in The FA Youth Cup.
Ben became a part of The Dons’ First Team squad, but parted ways with the League Two outfit following the expiry of his contract at the end of the 2023/24 season.
Mason has had multiple loan spells in the Non-League pyramid, including a stint at fellow Hampshire club Basingstoke Town, where he helped them to win the Isthmian League South Central Division title, the North Hampshire Cup and the Hampshire Senior Cup in 2022/23.
He spent the first half of last season on loan at former National League South side Braintree Town, where he made 14 appearances and managed to get himself on scoresheet when Farnborough visited Essex last September.
Back in January, a loan deal was agreed with AFC Wimbledon for Ben to join Boro on loan for the second half of the 2023/24 season. However, due to a serious injury in a training game, he unfortunately never made an appearance for Spencer Day’s side.
Upon his return, Mason told the Club’s Media:
“I had a little taste of it in January and when I was here I really enjoyed it.
“Having an opportunity to come back in is definitely really exciting and it’s a really good place to be.”
“I’m a full-back. Really solid defensively, I don’t like to get beat. On the other hand, I like to get crosses in, a few goals, a few assists. I’m quite all-rounded.”
On his ambitions for the new season: “Forty plus games, goals and assists are my personal targets. Win as much as we can and get promoted.”
Manager Spencer Day added:
“I’m thrilled to at last get Ben over the line after such a frustrating end to the season where sadly, the Boro fans never got to see him.
“A proper right-back that had a great first half of the season at Braintree and we know him already, which is a big bonus.
“He’s so determined and his attitude is fantastic – the biggest issue is holding him back!
“A young man that I know will become a fan favourite very quickly!”
Ben has been allocated shirt number 2.
